Telford and Wrekin Council for Voluntary Service manages the Centre. Telford and Wrekin CVS exists to help people in their communities to :

• Improve their quality of life
• Work together to identify needs
• Co-operate with each other
• Develop partnerships with other agencies to meet need

The Telford and Wrekin Volunteer Centre supports the aims of the CVS by promoting volunteering within the public, local voluntary and community sectors.  It is one of a countrywide network of volunteer development agencies whose six core functions are:

1.   Brokerage

      Potential volunteers are supported and guided into appropriate volunteering roles.

      Organisations involving volunteers are supported to fill a wide range of volunteering opportunities.

2.   Marketing

      Volunteering is actively promoted to all sections of the community through a range of activities.

3.   Good Practice Development

      Good practice is promoted to all organisations involving volunteers.  This often involves delivering training on volunteer support, supervision and management

4.   Developing Volunteering Opportunities

      Organisations involving volunteering are encouraged to create meaningful new roles for volunteers to ensure a wide diversity of opportunities.

5.   Policy Response and Campaigning

      Volunteering is kept high on the agenda at a local, regional and national level to ensure a volunteer friendly environment.  This includes maintaining an awareness of national policies that can have an impact on volunteers and volunteering.

6.   Strategic Development of Volunteering

      Volunteering is developed at a strategic level through involvement in local, regional and national volunteer development bodies and by being aware of development within the sector.

The Centre is accredited to Volunteer England the integrated Development Agency for England.
