Volunteer Week
This year is the 25th anniversary of Volunteer Week 1 - 7 June 2009

To celebrate Volunteers’ Week a number of events took place to recognize, reward and recruit volunteers.
This included:
- A week long display in the Telford Town Centre Library
- Training workshop on the three R’s of volunteering – recognition, reward and recruitment
The Volunteer Centre teamed up with other local organisations to show their gratitude to their volunteers and to encourage others to get involved.
This included:
- Rounders in the Park – organized by Women In Motion
- A guided walk around the park – organized by Walkabout Wrekin
- A Flash garden – organized by V involved
Amelia and her mum Hayley helping to create the Flash Garden

The walks were led by Volunteers David and Tracy who regularly lead walks for Walkabout Wrekin

David says: "Assisting in leading the walks is an enjoyable and companionable way to keep fit and active"

A special thank you goes to Newport Photographic Society who took a photographic record of the event.
Many organisations held their own events with celebrations to demonstrate their gratitude of how they have benefitted from the contribution of volunteers.In order to encourage more and more organizations to get involved next year the Volunteer Centre is facilitating a planning group meeting and would love to hear from you for your ideas.
