What Happens During a Volunteer Interview?

At the Volunteer Centre we will have a chat with you about the sorts of things you are interested in and any ideas you may have about what you would like to do, whether you are thinking about finding paid work in the future, whether you would like to learn new skills or use existing skills, whether you just want to meet new people etc. Many people do not have any fixed ideas about what they would like to do, so we will spend time looking at all the types of volunteering available.

Most people then take away information we have given them to have a think about it, other people are ready to make a decision and are then referred to the organisation/organisations of their choice

Remember, volunteering looks great on your CV, is a good way to meet new people and is one way of putting something back into your local community. Most people volunteer for about 2-3 hours a week, some do more and some do less - it is entirely up to you how much time you give to volunteering, so it will fit in with even the most busy person's lifestyle.

In order to give you a wide choice of the most suitable options that suit your choice and circumstances, we need to have some basic information from you, such as:

Ø      Your reasons for volunteering.

Ø      Skills and interests.

Ø      Time available.

Ø      Possible barriers to volunteering.

Ø      Name, address and contact number.

All information given will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Click here to download a leaflet called "What Happens When I Contact The Volunteer Centre".

We will contact you after two months to see if you are happy in your volunteering and whether you need any more help.  You will be invited to complete a questionnaire, which can be returned in a FREEPOST envelope.

We are happy to answer any questions you have surrounding volunteering and address any concerns at any time.

We welcome constructive feedback on the service we provide.  If you have any comments or concerns please contact us.
